Deborah Schamoni presents new work by Canadian painter Brenda Draney. In the upper gallery, Sandy Brown, Berlin, showcases work by Naples-based Rosa Panaro and Australian Alex Vivian.
In her oil paintings, Brenda Draney works from the space of storytelling and recollection, taking into consideration the authority imbued in memories and history. The artist explores how individually and collectively experienced events shape narratives, an approach rooted in her upbringing as a member of the Sawridge First Nation.
Since the fifties, Rosa Panaro has worked with materials such as concrete, papier-mâché, and clay to experiment with the art object and its commodification.
